Post-Market Analysis

Nifty opened flat at 5567 and closed at 5537 losing 28 points over previous close, for the rest of the day it remained in the negative zone. Exporting companies, Auto and IT sectors witnessed lot of selling pressure, while Oil & Gas registered good growth. The Advance/Decline ratio remained throughout in the negative and closed at 20/30. The major gainers were ONGC, HDFCBANK, SBIN, RELIANCE & PNB, while the major losers were HDFC, INFOSYSTCH, ICICIBANK, DRREDDY & TATASTEEL. The volatility was quite high. Now the downside is limited.  


Pre-Market Analysis 08.30 am.

  • Global cues are negatively inclined.
  • Crude Oil has dropped to $ 110.92 per barrel. A cause of concern for inflation.
  • USD vs INR is at Rs.44.53, Rupee has softened further as a result of stock market tanking.
  • Nifty: The reaction to RBI hiking bps by 50 points has taken the toll, now NSE may have flattish session but with high volatility. The opening may soft, volatility may increase. Closing may be flat or with marginal gains.
  • Expected High/Low 5660,5590 / 5540, 5490
  • Nifty presents an opportunity to investors waiting at the sidelines.
  • If Nifty dips further it will present an opportunity to accumulate any Nifty stocks except auto and reality sectors.
  • GAIL& BHARTIARTL remain good for medium to long-term, DISHTV & ARVIND buy at dips for short-medium term.

During the Market:

04.45 pm. RBI announcing the 50 points hike took the steam out of the investers and even foreign institutional investors went for a massive sellout which crashed the NSE by 124 points, over previous close, and closed at basal support level of 5565. Except BHEL all the 49 stocks of Nifty were down. The selling was seen across all the sectors, worst hit were  reality, auto and banking. The market was taken by surprise as most expected the RBI may increase by 25 points. 

11.23 am.
RBI has increased repo rate and reverse repo rate has been increased by 50 points. A step to contain inflation, as this will reduce money supply. On announcement of RBI Nifty dipped to make a low of 5670 but quickly returned to flat level. 


10.23 am.
Nifty has made a high of 5708 and is currently traversing at 5698. The Advance/Decline ratio stands nearly flat at 24/26, the major gainers are INFOSYSTCH, SBIN, STER, KOTAKBANK & BHEL, while the major decliners are LT, M&M, TCS, ITC & BHARTIARTL. RBI is to announce its rates policy around noon today so the rates sensitive stocks are depressed. Banking stocks may firm up today following the RBI's announcement.             


09.29 am.
Nifty opened soft at 5689 and made a low of 5673 but recouped quickly to 5679 and may strengthen further.

  • Crude Oil has dropped back to $ 112.95 per barrel. A cause of concern for inflation.
  • USD vs INR is at Rs.44.35, Rupee has softened.
  • Nifty: Pull-back is expected and time is ripe for a breakout. The opening may soft, volatility may increase. Closing may be with gains, the pullback is on the cards.
  • Expected High/Low 5810,5760 / 5680, 5650
  • Wait & watch for breakout.
  • GAIL& BHARTIARTL remain good for medium to long-term, DISHTV & ARVIND buy at dips for short-medium term.
  • If Nifty dips further it will present an opportunity to accumulate.

During the Market:

03.56 pm. Nifty closed with a loss of 48 points over previous close at 5701, its for the fourth consecutive session that NSE has closed with a loss. Nifty may start improving from tomorrow. The Advance/Decline ratio at close was 15/35, the major gainers were INFOSYSTCH, TATAPOWER, LT, BHARTIARTL & DRREDDY, while the major losers were RELIANCE, SBIN, ICICIBANK, HDFC & M&M. EXCEPT Reality all other sectors were beaten today, specially the stocks who depend a lot on bank borrowing, ahead of RBI's plans to increase the rates.      

10.56 am.
Nifty appears consolidating and is at 5729.


10.27 am.
Nifty has opened with a gap-up at 5766, but could not sustain and made a low of 5714. Currently its trading at 5725 with Advance/Decline ratio at 19/31. The major gainers are INFOSYSTCH, ITC, DRREDDY, SUNPHARMA & BHARTIARTL, and the major losers are SBIN, ICICIBANK, HDFCBANK, RELIANCE & HDFC. After sometime the NSE is bound to become resilient. This situation may present opportunity to take fresh positions in selected stocks.

  • Crude Oil has dropped back to $ 113.73 per barrel. A cause of concern for inflation.
  • USD vs INR is at Rs.44.235, Rupee has hardened.
  • Nifty: Pull-back is expected and time is ripe for a breakout. The opening may a gap-up, volatility may be moderate. Closing may be with gains and if the closing is lower the pullback will happen tomorrow.
  • Expected High/Low 5840,5810,5750/ 5705, 5680

During the Market:

03.45 am. Nifty has closed for the day at 5749 losing 35 points over previous close. The Advance/Decline was at 24/26, the major gainers were RELIANCE, HINDUNILVR, AMBUJACEM, SUNPHARMA & TCS, while the major losers were LT, HDFCBANK, HDFC, ONGC & SBIN. RBI's decision to raise the interest has hit the stocks. This week NSE has lost 135 points in total.                

12.22 pm.
Nifty is range bound and lackluster. May be some action may be witnessed by the last hour otherwise a listless day.            


10.45 am.
Nifty opened nearly flat at 5782, after initial dip it made a high of 5804, thereafter dipped to 5764 and then on its trading at 5771. The Advance/Decline ratio is 28/21 with NTPC being flat. NSE may likely remain subdued.

During the Market:

03.40 pm. Nifty closed near the day's low at 5785 losing 48 points over previous close. The Advance/Decline ratio closed at 8/42, with major gainers being ONGC, ICICIBANK, SUNPHARMA, BHARTIARTL & STER, while the major losers were RELIANCE, SBIN, INFOSYSTCH, LT & ITC. Reality was badly hit, while other sectors were not hit so much.     

02.27 pm.
Nifty at 5806 with Advance/Decline ratio at 10/40. Nifty is making some effort to cover some the ground.        


01.14 pm.
Nifty is down to a new low for the day at 5786 and is lingering at 5798 with Advance/Decline ratio being dismal at 6/44. European market has opened and is trading positive, even the Asian markets are positive. The indications are that this dip may be for changing shares from weak hands to strong hands, and Nifty may rise towards the last leg of the session.


10.59 am.
Nifty has further added to its loss by touching a low of 5808 with Advance/Decline ratio going down to 12/38. The major gainers are ONGC, BHARTIARTL, AMBUJACEM, BAJAJAUTO & ICICIBANK, while the major losers are RELIANCE, HDFC, INFOSUSTCH, JINDALSTEL & BHEL. From these levels the recovery is expected.


09.39 am.
Nifty has opened at 5851 thereafter it slipped to 5814, now its trading at 5825. The Advance/Decline ratio is at 17/33 , the major gainers are ICICIBANK, ONGC, LT, STER & SBIN, while the major losers are RELIANCE, HDFC, INFOSYSTCH, JINDAL & CAIRN. This being the settlement day nothing much is expected as there has been smooth roll-overs taking place. The smooth rollovers show the investors confidence.

  • Crude Oil has jumped to a high of $ 113.61 per barrel. A cause of concern for inflation, its also said that, the inflation propels the growth.

During the Market:

03.44 pm. Nifty closed with a loss of 34 points at 5833 over previous close. The trading was dull and lackluster for the entire session. At close the Advance/Decline ratio tipped to 10/40. The major gainers were ITC, ONGC, M&M, INFOSYSTCH & BHARTIARTL, while the major losers were RELIANCE, ICICIBANK, LT, BHEL & WIPRO.              
12.06 pm. Nifty trading flat at 5869 with Advance/Decline ratio at 20/29 with CAIRN being flat. The major gainers are ONGC, INFOSYSTCH, M&M, BHARTIARTL & MARUTI, while the major losers are RELIANCE, WIPRO, HFGCBANK, LT & BHEL. Nifty is trading flattish without any fanfare. Tomorrow is the month's settlement day so caution is being exercised or may be the action is reserved for the last hour of the session. 

09.40 am.
Nifty after opening flat, made a low of 5865 and now is trading flat at 5880. The Advance/Decline is at 30/20, with major gainers being INFOSYSTCH, ONGC, HDFCBANK, ITC & TATAMOTORS, while the major losers are WIPRO, HDFC, AMBUJACEM, GAIL & TATAPOWER.

  • Crude Oil has jumped back to a high of $ 112.21 per barrel. A cause of concern for inflation.
  • USD vs INR is at Rs.44.415, Rupee has eased.
  • Nifty: The opening may be with a positive gap near 5890, volatility may be very high. Closing may be near 5920-5950.
  • Expected High/Low 6000,5940/5850,5770
  • Wait & watch for breakout.
  • Banking stocks would be under pressure as RBI has slapped penalty amounting to total of Rs.1.95 crores for various irregularities on 19 banks, private banks being hit the maximum.

During the Market:

03.40 pm. Nifty made a smart recovery from the days low of 5791 and closed at 5868 nearly flat, losing 6 points, making this session a consolidation session. This shows that Nifty has strength and will resist any down move. The Advance/Decline ratio also rose to 24/26, the major gainers were ICICIBANK,  GRASIM, ITC, BHARTIARTL & TATAMOTORS, while the major losers were RELIANCE,  HDFCBANK, HDFC, AXISBANK & LT. It was great comeback in the last hour of the trade.  

11.07 am.
Nifty after opening at 5876 went down to make a low of 5792 and now is recouping at 5808. This can be confirmed as consolidation process once the Nifty gathers strength and moves near the previous closing. The chances of which seem very remote because of monthly settlement on Thursday 28th,April, 2011. The oil price is adding to woes of worries. The Advance/Decline is dismal at 6/44, the major gainers are BHARTIARTL, INFOSYSTCH, BPCL, AMBUJACEM & RCOM, while the major losers are HDFC, ITC, LT, HDFCBANK & RELIANCE. The declining of NSE will strengthen Rupee against Dollar adding to miseries of importers and IT sectors which are highly dependent on foreign payments.

During the Market:

03.40 pm. Nifty closed nearly flat at 5874 losing 10 points over previous close. The Advance/Decline ratio was negative at 19/30 with ACC remaining flat. The major gainers were INFOSYSTCH, SBIN, STER, LT & TCS, while the major losers were RELIANCE, AXISBANK, HDFCBANK, ICICIBANK & JINDALSTEL. Out of the losers main were AXISBANK & RELIANCE.

Nifty still flat at 5888.

01.28 pm.
Nifty is moving horizontally with an stable Advance/Decline ratio at 26/24. May be in the last hour of the trade some action may be seen otherwise a dull and event-less day.     


11.35 am.
Nifty is trading at 5887 and the Advance/Decline ratio is getting flatter at 26/22, while IDFC & RCOM are flat. The positiveness in Nifty may return when it crosses 5910 mark. Till then dull and mundane activity may continue. RELIANCE a heavy weight in Nifty has sunk by 4.13 % as of now, on poor Q4 results. 


10.28 am.
Nifty under profit booking has gone down to 5881. The Advance/Decline ratio is at 30/20. The volatility will continue and sideways movement with positive bias to continue, but the trading may be lackluster. This being the last week of monthly settlement lots of ups and downs may be seen.          


09.54 am.
Nifty has opened with a gap down at 5859 but has recovered to 5895 and Advance/Decline ratio is at 39/19. The major gainers are SBIN, INFOSYSTCH, LT, ITC & M&M, while the major losers are RELIANCE, AXISBANK, SIEMENS, JINDALSTEL & MARUTI. Nifty appears to be in consolidation phase and may end up with positive gains. On the whole Nifty has a positive bias.

During the Market:

03.54 pm. Nifty finally closed for the day with a gain of 33 points over previous close at 5884. It was a good day for the Nifty and ably supported by global cues. The Advance/Decline ratio was positive at 32/18, the major gainers were RELIANCE, HDFC, SBIN, HDFCBANK & ONGC, while the major losers were BHEL, TCS, BHARTIARTL, SIEMENS & TATAMOTORS. Oil and metal sectors performed well. The lead may be taken by the IT sector in sessions to come.

02.28 pm.
Nifty holding on its morning position at 5891. The Advance/Decline Ratio at 29/20 with POWERGRID being flat. The major gainers of this hour are RELIANCE, HDFC, SBIN, ONGC & HDFCBANK, while the top losers are BHEL, BHARTIARTL, TCS, TATAMOTORS & DRREDDY. Nifty may get a boost now any moment before the close.


01.37 pm.
Nifty is experiencing great volatility, its near the lows at 5868 but may recover fast. The Advance/Decline ratio stands at 29/21. Nifty is all positive to the SBI scrapping the teaser Loan Scheme benefiting the loan customers, further it may have positive impact on SBI's net income margins. 


12.10 pm.
Nifty after making a high of 5912 has backed to 5890, with Advance/Decline ratio at 35/15. Nifty has been able to hold most of its early morning gains confidently.       
 

11.12 am.
Nifty has touched a high of 5908, with Advance/Decline ratio of 38/12. The major gainers are HDFC, RELIANCE, HDFCBANK, TCS & INFOSYSTCH, while the major losers are BHARTIARTL, TATAMOTORS, SIEMENS, DRREDDY & IDFC.


09.26 am.
Nifty has opened strong with a gap-up at 5882 and is now adding to its gains by being at 5894. The Advance/Decline ratio is potentially positive at 40/10, the major gainers are RELIANCE. LT, HDFCBANK, ICICIBANK & TCS, while the major losers are TATAMOTORS, SIEMENS, GAIL, BPCL & BAJAJAUTO. The Nifty is likely touch a high but there is strong possibility of profit booking as there is a holiday tomorrow so, this is the last working day of the week.

During the Market:

03.47 pm. Nifty finally closed at 5851 with strong Advance/Decline ratio of 48/2. The top gainers for today were TCS, HDFC, ICICIBANK, RELIANCE & M&M, while the  losers were HEROHONDA & RCOM. Nifty made a good come back from the day's low and sharply rose to end near the day's high. Auto, IT & Banks were the major sectors were buying was seen.  

01.57 pm.
Nifty could not maintain the gain because of sideways movement and ultimately succumbed to a low of 5759. Thereafter, its recouping and has attained a level of 5794. The Advance/Decline ratio has come up to 39/11, the major gainers are TCS, M&M, ICICIBANK, TATAMOTORS & HCLTECH, while the major losers are LT, HEROHONDA, RCOM, RPOWER & GRASIM.


12.32 pm.
Nifty is moving in a range of 5790-5810, it needs to break from this range bound trading and it may get weak if it moves for long in this range. Nifty at 5800 with Advance/Decline ratio little changed to 47/3 with TCS, ICICIBANK, M&M, INFOSYSTCH & TATAMOTORS leading the gainers, while the three marginal losers are HERONDA, CIPLA & GAIL. More action is expected in the last hour of the trade, if Nifty crosses 5820 mark then a positive movement is expected but if it remains in this range bears may strike.  


10.39 am.
Nifty is near its high at 5800 and Advance/Decline ratio is holding strong at 47/3. The top gainers are TCS, ICICIBANK, ITC, M&M & INFOSYSTCH, while the three losers are HEROHONDA, GAIL & POWERGRID. IT, Banks and Reality are the sectors surging ahead. 


09.17 am.
Nifty has opened strong at 5786 and has climbed to 5802 with Advance/Decline at 48/2.ICICIBANK, TCS, INFOSYSTCH, ITC & LT are major gainers, while HEROHONDA & BPCL are the two losers.

During the Market:

03.54 pm. Nifty closed almost flat at 5740 with a gain of 11 points over previous close. The Advance/Decline ratio at close was at 30/19 with STER remaining flat. The major gainers were LT, HDFCBANK, TCS, BHARTIARTL & ICICIBANK, while the major losers were ITC, HEROHONDA, INFOSYSTCH, BHEL & SBIN. NSE remained volatile and the buying spurted in the last hour of the session. In this situation those who have patience will be winners.

Due to some unavoidable problems updates were not possible.           


11.20 am.
Nifty  after a soft opening at 5716 as per global cues, made a high of 5762, but again the selling pressure mounted bringing the Nifty down to a low of 5693. Currently Nifty is trading around 5731 with Advance/Decline ratio at 26/24. The major gainers are HDFCBANK, TCS, M&M, CAIRN & AXISBANK, while the major losers are BHEL, HEROHONDA, GRASIM, TATAPOWER & DRREDDY. Resilience may be shown today by Nifty after previous falls.

During the Market:

02.54 pm. Nifty has made a low of 5732 and currently lingering at 5741. The Advance/Decline ratio which was so strong in the early session has slumped to 7/43.
the major gainers are HINDUNILVR, ONGC, BAJAJAUTO, MARUTI & STER, while the top losers are INFOSYSTCH, TCS, LT, ICICIBANK & HDFCBANK.
                               
12.55 pm. Nifty has fallen to 5758 and now is recuperating at 5773. Profit taking is being witnessed across the board in all sectors. The Advance/Decline ratio is at 13/37. The top gainers are RELIANCE, HEROHONDA, HINDUNILVR, BAJAJAUTO & ONGC, while the top losers are INFOSYSTCH, ITC, TCS, HDFCBANK & HDFC.             

11.05 am.
Nifty has made a high of 5897 and is getting soft at 5875, with Advance/Decline ratio slowing to 42/8. The top gainers are RELIANCE, LT, HDFC, HDFCBANK & ICICIBANK, while the top losers are INFOSYSTCH, TCS, CIPLA, BHEL & BPCL. Some amount of profit taking is also going on which is pulling NSE down.               

09.57 am.
Nifty opened flat and now is trading at 5878 with strength. The Advance/Decline ratio is at 46/4. RELIANCE. LT, ICICIBANK, HDFC & HEROHONDA are the top gainers while the four losers are INFOSYSTCH, CIPLA, KOTAKBANK & BPCL. Strong positions are being built in all major stocks across all the sectors. Time to hold your positions and wait for breakout above 6200.

During the Market:

10.01 am. Nifty opened soft at 5898 and went down to make a low of 5847. Currently its trading meekly at 5865, with Advance/Decline at 19/31. The major gainers are LT, HEROHONDA, SBIN, ICICIBANK & BHARTIARTL, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, RELIANCE, TCS, WIPRO & ONGC. Trading will slowly improve as the day progresses. Today being the last working day of the week some traders may square there positions which may lead to mild fluctuations. Infosys has reported of lower 4th Qt. profits has effected the sentiments temporarily.

During the Market:

03.45 pm.  Nifty performed exceedingly well today and recouped nearly all the losses it incurred in the last few sessions in a single day. Nifty recorded a gain of 125points over previous close and closed for the day at 5911. The high point of the day was 5923 and the low was at 5735. The Advance/Decline ratio stood sturdy at 46/4. The major gainers were HDFC, INFOSYSTCH, ICICIBANK, RELIANCE & ITC, while the only four marginal losers were SUNPHARMA, TATAPOWER, STER & CAIRN.

03.08 pm. 
Nifty has made a high of 5901, the strength is exhibited across all sectors specially IT, Technical, and private banks. Bulls have beaten the bears and have regained the control of NSE.


02.30 pm. 
Nifty has made a high of 5895 and has moved from strength to strength. The Advance/Decline ratio is holding firm at 46/4, the major gainers are HDFC, ICICIBANK, LT, INFOSYSTCH & TCS, while the four losers are TATAPOWER, SUNPHARMA, STER & CAIRN.


01.38 pm. 
Nifty has touched a high of 5880 with a firm Advance/Decline ratio at 45/5. UK's FTSE has opened and trading in green, the other European markets are also trading in the green. NSE is surging ahead with buying in nearly all sectors and even the broader markets are ably supportive.    


12.51 pm. 
Nifty has risen to 5863 firmly and slowly. The Advance/Decline is at 42/8 with HDFC, LT, ICICIBANK, INFOSYSTCH & TCS a the major gainers, while TATAPOWER, SUNPHARMA, HINDALCO, JINDALSTEL & DRREDDY as the major losers. IT sector is seeing the brisk buying followed by auto.    
 

10.29 am.
Nifty at 5823 after opening soft at 5747 and dipping to a low of 5735. The Advance/Decline is at 35/14 with POWERGRID being flat. The major gainers are  HDFC, RELIANCE, ICICIBANK, LT & HDFCBANK, while the major losers are ONGC, STER, JINDALSTEL, SUNPHARMA & TATAPOWER. Nifty is showing some resilience and may recover some of the lost ground in previous session.

  • Global cues are negative.
  • Crude Oil has has dropped to $ 106.10 per barrel. A worrisome sign for inflation.
  • USD vs INR is at Rs.44.545, Rupee got weaker.
  • Nifty: The opening may be negative with a gap down, volatility may be high. Closing would depend on FII's inflow, which is bound to increase.
  • Expected High/Low 5890,5830/5710, 5650
  • Wait & watch for the break out above 6000.
  • Don't panic sell just wait things will improve after few sessions, rather wait to enter blue chips around 5560.

During the Market:

03.45 pm.  Nifty closed weak at 5785 losing 56 points over previous close. Now the concerns of growth, inflation and ever increasing crude oil price have taken their toll. At close the Advance/Decline ratio was at 15/35, the major gainers were INFOSYSTCH, ITC, SUNPHARMA, ICICIBANK & SEASAGOA, while the major losers were RELIANCE, HDFC, HDFCBANK, TATAMOTORS & AXISBANK.

Nifty at 5807 after dipping to a low of 5795. The Advance/Decline ratio is at 19/31, the top gainers are ITC, INFOSYSTCH, ICICIBANK, SUNPHARMA & SBIN, while the top losers are RELIANCE, HDFC, HDFCBANK, ONGC & M&M.,

Nifty has opened soft at 5815 and is currently trading at 5811 with Advance/Decline ratio at 19/31. The top gainers are ITC, BHARTIARTL, BHEL, LT & STER, while the top losers are HDFCBANK, RELIANCE, INFOSYSTCH, HDFC & M&M. Hold on to your stocks until you get profit = 20% + Brokerage.

During the Market:

03.45 pm.  Nifty showed signs of slowing down after three days of consolidation, yet the mid term view is positive and we can see resilience by Nifty in coming sessions. To day was not so good day for the Nifty lost 43 points and closed at 5842. Today only small-caps were in the limelight whereas Large and Mid-caps witnessed losses. The Advance/Decline ratio at close was 11/39, with ITC, BHARTIARTL, LT, HINDUNILVR & CAIRN were gainers, while RELIANCE, TATAMOTORS, HINDALCO, INFOSYSTCH & SBIN were the major losers.                       

02.31 pm.
Nifty has sunk below the 5850 mark and is trading with weakness at 5838 after dipping to make a new low of 5828 for the day. Now the recovery may start.

01.47 pm.
Nifty is trading near the day's low at 5850 and Advance/Decline is unchanged at 12/38.


11.09 am.
Nifty currently trading weak at 5863 with Advance/Decline ratio at 11/38 with BHEL being flat. Action is expected in the forenoon session, till then Nifty may move in a range of 20-30 points plus or minus. 


09.53 am.
Nifty opened flat at 5886, touched a high of 5926 and backed currently to 5882 after touching a low of 5878. Currently the Advance/Decline ratio stands at 17/33, the major gainers are ITC, ICICIBANK, HDFCBANK, BHARTIARTL & HDFC, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, WIPRO, LT, TATAMOTORS & ONGC. The rise in crude oil price, inflation, uncertain political issues and West-Asia situation remain cause of concern. Overall Indian National scene is dominated by corruption, scandals & scams

During the Market:

03.40 pm. Nifty closed nearly flat  at 5885 losing 6 points over previous close. The  Advance/Decline ratio at 22/27 while POWERGRID remained flat. The major gainers were HDFC, LT, BHARTIARTL, AXISBANK & HINDALCO, while the major losers were INFOSYSTCH, TCS, ONGC, HDFCBANK & NTPC. This was the fourth day in a row of consolidation. Nifty continued to trade in a range, the reality sector continued its positive stride.

02.30 pm.
Nifty is trading flat at 5894 with Advance/Decline at 26/24. The lackluster trading is the order of the day.  


01.03 pm.
Nifty is at 5894 after touching a high of 5898. Nifty is in consolidation mode since last three trading sessions. European market has opened marginally positive. The Advance/Decline is 26/23 while GAIL is flat. The major gainers are HDFC, ICICIBANK, LT, AXISBANK & SBIN, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, RELIANCE, TCS, HDFCBANK & BHARTIARTL. Nifty is expected to be in positive zone by close.   


10.10 am.
Nifty after a soft opening 5888 made a low of 5867 and currently is trading at 5880. The Advance/Decline is at 23/27 with a negative bias. The major gainers are HDFC, LT, HINDALCO, TATASTEEL & TATAPOWER, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, RELIANCE, BHARTIARTL, ITC & HDFCBANK. Nifty appears to be consolidating the good gains of last week.

During the Market:

03.40 pm. Nifty has closed at 5891 losing 18 points over previous close. The post noon session was marked lackluster with trading in a narrow range. The large caps took a backstage while mid and small caps were front runners. Reality was the only sector which showed positive performance. The Advance/Decline ratio at the close was negatively tilted at 23/26 with JINDALSTEL remaining flat. The major gainers were TATAMOTORS, GAIL, NTPC, SEASAGOA & HEROHONDA, while the top losers were ICICIBANK, TCS, BHARTIARTL, WIPRO & HDFCBANK.  

03.01 pm.
Nifty is trading at 5892 with large-caps loosing out to small & mid-caps. Hold on to your positions.


02.32 pm.
The lackluster trading is there with a narrow range movement. Nifty is trading at 5895 and may close flat
consecutively for the second day.        

01.55 pm.
Nifty is hovering around 5900 mark and is trading sideways in a narrow range. The Advance/Decline ratio is also flat.


12.25 pm.
Nifty has become flat at 5910, while the Advance/Decline ratio is positively inclined at 30/20. The major gainers are SBIN, NTPC, SEASAGOA, TATAMOTORS & GAIL, while the major losers are HDFCBANK, RELIANCE, TCS, BHARTIARTL & ITC. SAESAGOA has benefited by the High Court's permission allowing export of iron ore outside Karnataka.


11.54 am.
Nifty still in red at 5899 but recouping from the lows. Advance/Decline ratio has recovered to 25/25. Nifty likely to recover after this consolidation phase. Nifty could not hold the early gains as profit taking starts at higher levels. The long term view is positive for Nifty.
 

10.51 am.
Nifty has slipped to a low of 5868 with Advance/Decline at 19/30 with STER being flat. The private banks ICICIBANK, HDFCBANK are running in red along with a heavyweight RELIANCE.    
 

10.18 am. Nifty has made a high of 5844 and is now retracing back at 5920. The Advance/Decline ratio stands at 35/14 with AMBUJACEMENT being flat. The major gainers are HDFC, ONGC, SEASAGOA, GRASIM & BHEL, while the major losers are HDFCBANK, BHARTIARTL, ITC, TCS & LT. Nifty is running up in spite of crude oil price that may impact the inflation. It seems any news is 'good news' for Nifty, therefore demanding more caution.

09.22 am.
Nifty has opened at 5908 and is now trading with a positive bias at 5930 with Advance/Decline ratio at 41/9. The major gainers are HDFC, ICICIBANK, SEASAGOA, SBIN & STER, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, HDFCBANK, ITC, SUNPHARMA & RANBAXY.

During the Market:

03.45 pm. Nifty recouped to a flat close marking it as a day of consolidation. On close the Advance/Decline ratio was at 22/26 with INFOSYSTCH & WIPRO remaining absolute flat. The major gainers were TCS, TATAMOTORS, SBIN, SEASAGOA & STER, while the major losers were LT, HDFC, ICICIBANK, RELIANCE & M&M. Small investors are advised to refrain from fresh buying as the P/E ratios are extremely high.  

02.30 pm.
Nifty is recovering from the lows at 5887 and may head for a flat close.


12.57 pm.
Nifty has slumped to a low of 5855 and currently running near the lows at 5862. The Advance/Decline has also gone negative at 11/39, the major gainers are AMBUJACEM, SBIN, BHEL, RANBAXY & CIPLA, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, RELIANCE, HDFC, ICICIBANK & LT. These daily up and downs should not make one nervous, these are consolidation moves. In the near future Nifty may reach 6200 levels.    


10.30 am.
Nifty has become positive now at 5911 with Advance/Decline ratio at 30/20. The major gainers are BHEL, HINDALCO AMBUJACEM, SEASAGOA & STER, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, HDFC, TATAPOWER, M&M & BAJAJAUTO. The trading sentiment is positive because of high FIIs inflows and fund buying, the retail investors have further fueled the gains in past one week.  


09.38 am.
Nifty after a positive opening at 5923 made a high of 5928 and slipped to a low of 5887. Its recouping at 5906 with Advance/Decline ratio at 24/24 with ICICIBANK & STER being flat. The major gainers are RELIANCE, BHEL, AMBUJACEM, HINDUNILVR & NTPC, while the major losers are INFOSYSTCH, LT, M&M, TATASTEEL &  BAJAJAUTO. Some moderation or consolidation expected as per present trend.

During the Market:

03.41 pm. Nifty has closed strong near the day's high at 5908. Nifty made a high of 5918, the Advance/Decline ratio at close was at 40/10. The major gainers were INFOSYSTCH, RELIANCE, HDFCBANK, LT & ICICIBANK, while the major losers were HINDUNILVR, HDFC, GAIL, CIPLA & RCOM. All the sectors have participated in today's gain and that is very good indication. All round good news specially from auto & cement sector also helped the buoyancy of the sentiment.   

02.53 pm.
Nifty at 5909 after making a new high at 5918, Advance/Decline ratio still holding on with strength at 42/8. M&M has recorded the best growth over previous close with an increase of 4.49%. Its good that the Nifty's reins are again back in the hands of large-caps and this may promise a better gains. 
 

02.13 pm.
Nifty has touched a new high of 5904 and is currently at 5897, backed by a firm Advance/Decline ratio of 42/8. The major gainers are INFOSYSTCH, RELIANCE, HDFCBANK, ICICIBANK & LT, while the major losers are HDFC, HINDUNILVR, GAIL, CIPLA & RCOM. Nifty is getting heated, book part profits. At 5900 Nifty is facing profit booking. If Nifty survives the profit booking its next target is 6200 in couple of trading sessions, so one can wait it out. 


01.26 pm.
Nifty has made a high of 5901 but quickly retracted and is trading at 5886. The Advance/Decline is at 38/12 with INFOSYSTCH, ICICIBANK, HDFCBANK, RELIANCE & LT being the major gainers, while the major losers are HDFC, HINDUNILVR, GAIL, CIPLA & RCOM. The buying coming in from funds and retail investors is helping the Nifty in its stride. 


10.18 am.
Nifty is moving sideways with Advance/Decline at 28/22 indicative of positive bias. The volatility is low, Banks, Auto & IT are in the limelight.   


09.30 am.
Nifty has opened positive at 5842 and is currently at 5852 after making a high at 5867. The Advance/Decline ratio is at 31/18 with ONGC ruling flat. The major gainers are INFOSYSTCH, ICICIBANK, TCS, SBIN & HDFCBANK, while the top losers are HDFC, BHEL, HINDUNILVR, RCOM & SESAGOA.

During the Market:

03.40 pm. Nifty rose and fell the previous close in early trade but remained in the negative for most part of the session. Nifty ultimately settled for a near flat close at 5826 losing 7 points. The Advance/Decline ratio at close was 28/22. The large caps were under-performer while mid and small caps gained.

02.15 pm.
Nifty still flat, rangebound and lackluster with Advance/Decline at 24/26. BHEL, HDFC, GRASIM, HINDALCO & POWERGRID are the major gainers, while ICICIBANK, SBIN, RELIANCE, INFOSYSTCH & NTPC are the major losers. The small and medium caps have taken the center-stage.   
      

01.05 pm.
Nifty trading near the lows at 5817 with negative bias as mid caps and small caps have taken over the large caps. This is usually a sign of rally getting matured. The Advance/Decline ratio is at 27/22 with BAJAJAUTO being flat.


11.26 am.
Nifty continues to trade in negative territory at 5821and Advance/Decline is absolutely flat at 25/25. Reality, Metal and FMCG sectors marginally up while Banking, IT and PSUs down.     
 

10.12 am.
Nifty has touched a low of 5816 with Advance/Decline ratio slipping to 27/23. After a positive start now the Nifty is trading in negative zone. The Banks are looking weak although Capital Goods are witnessing the buying. The gainers are RELIANCE, ITC,  BHEL,
TATASTEEL& HINDALCO, while the major losers are ICICIBANK, SBIN, INFOSYSTCH, HDFCBANK & WIPRO.        

09.21 am.
Nifty opened positive at 5835 on the first day of new series, and after touching a high of 5860 is now trading at 5849, with Advance/Decline ratio at 31/19. The major gainers are RELIANCE, LT, TCS, HINDALCO & ITC, while the major losers are ICICIBANK, SBIN, BHARTIARTL, TATAMOTORS & WIPRO. The volatility is high.
